Epoxy Self-Leveling Floor

Epoxy Self-Leveling Floor is a two-component coating based on epoxy resins, available in various colors.

The material is a two-component, solvent-free and odorless epoxy self-leveling flooring compound.

Appointment

Epoxy self-leveling floors are designed for areas exposed to high operational loads. The coating provides excellent resistance to mechanical and impact loads, abrasion, temperature fluctuations, alkalis, weak acids and other chemicals.

It forms a seamless, dust-free coating.

Main properties:

  • water resistance and waterproofing properties;
  • resistance to UV radiation;
  • excellent decorative properties.

The epoxy coating provides excellent adhesion to various substrates, high wear and chemical resistance, hardness and strength.

It can be applied to concrete, rigid metal and wooden substrates, forming a thick protective layer resistant to mechanical and chemical loads.

Applications

Epoxy self-leveling flooring is designed for areas exposed to high mechanical loads, intensive contact with liquids, as well as severe abrasive and chemical loads.

The chemical-resistant epoxy coating is suitable for industrial and commercial flooring, including:

  • retail and manufacturing facilities;
  • food and pharmaceutical facilities;
  • childcare and medical facilities;
  • warehouses;
  • aircraft hangars;
  • workshops;
  • garages;
  • outdoor parking areas;
  • automotive repair shops.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be clean, dry and structurally sound.

Before application, the surface should be ground to remove cement laitance and provide a stronger and more even substrate.

Substrate requirements:

  • moisture content — not more than 4%
  • compressive strength — at least 20 MPa
  • pull-off strength — at least 1.5 MPa

Before applying the self-leveling floor, prime the substrate with an epoxy primer until the pores are completely filled. Primer consumption is 250–350 g/m².

Where defects or significant surface irregularities are present, an epoxy putty filled with calcined quartz sand at 80–120% by weight may be used.

Apply the self-leveling compound after the primer has completely cured — 24 hours at +20 °C.

Before applying the finish coat, grind the primed surface to improve adhesion. Alternatively, apply a thin layer of calcined quartz sand to the uncured, tacky primer. After curing, remove any loose sand with a vacuum cleaner.

Minimum application temperature: +5 °C.

After transportation at low temperatures or when working in a cold room, Component A may be heated separately from Component B to +25...+30 °C.

Application Procedure

Pre-mix Component A using a low-speed drill with a mixing attachment for 2–3 minutes.

Then add Component B (hardener) to the pre-mixed Component A. Mix thoroughly using a low-speed drill — not more than 800 rpm — fitted with a paddle mixer for 3–5 minutes, avoiding air entrainment and ensuring that the mixture is completely homogeneous.

Pour the compound onto the surface and spread it to the required thickness using a squeegee or trowel.

Immediately after application, roll the coating with a spiked aeration roller to remove trapped air bubbles.

When walking over the freshly applied coating, use special spiked shoes.

Important: all mixing, application and spiked-roller operations must be completed within the material's working time of 25–30 minutes.

Clean tools with solvent immediately after use.

Drying Time

  • at +20 °C — 1 day;
  • at +10 °C — 2 days;
  • at +5 °C — 3 days.

Consumption

The consumption of epoxy compound at a coating thickness of 1 mm is approximately 1 kg/m².

Safety Precautions

Apply the coating in a well-ventilated area.

Avoid contact with exposed skin. Protective gloves and safety glasses are recommended during application.

In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

Storage

Store the material in tightly closed containers at temperatures from 0 to +30 °C.

Do not heat. Keep away from fire and direct sunlight.

Component B (hardener) must be stored and transported at temperatures above 0 °C.

Shelf life in the original manufacturer's packaging: 6 months from the date of manufacture.

Application Tools

The following tools are required:

  • low-speed drill (not more than 800 rpm) with a suitable mixing paddle;
  • trowel for spreading the material in hard-to-reach areas;
  • adjustable squeegee for distributing the material evenly over the surface;
  • spiked aeration roller for removing air bubbles;
  • spiked shoes for walking on the freshly applied coating;
  • solvent for cleaning tools.

Before applying the material, make sure that the substrate has been properly prepared and primed.
